    The Bambara word for (green) tea is most commonly “dute” or simply “te” a direct loan from teh French “du thé.” So this would be firmly in the “tea” camp.

    Interestingly, if you are talking about black tea from a teabag, most Bambara speakers call it “Lipiton,” a bambaricization of the brand name “Lipton.”
