Hindi does have the velar nasal, as far as I know. It’s written as ङ, is it not?

Yes, that is part of the Hindi alphabets which is never used in isolation. all velar nasals are allophonic and appear before the velars as a dot above the preceding consonant letter as in मांग, कंघा, नंगा, झांक etc.
