One Response to “Obligatory Possessive Inflection”
Hungarian does have obligatorily possessed nouns, “fi-” (son) and “lány-” (daughter, the same word as girl) that have no free, non possessed forms. The later can be analysed as the possessive form of “lány” (girl), but the former differs from the word fiú (boy) even in the possessive; “fi-am” (son-1SgPoss) means the “my son” while “fiú-m” (boy-1SgPoss) means “my boyfriend”.
