This list contains 140 concepts which were used to carry out a lexicostatistical classification of 14 languages spoken on the Huon Peninsula. The author apparently started from Swadesh 1950 215 but successively reduced the items due to problems like frequent borrowing, since some of the terms had been culturally introducted (like «snow»), and due to semantic interdependencies (like «dirty» vs. «black»).
